Description

A matrix consisting of intergrown but poorly crystallised carbonates including azurite, cerussite (?), smithsonite and a little malachite, hosts blocky azurite crystals (to 7 mm) and bow-tie aggregates of elongated azurite blades. The azurite has been extensively, but incompletely, coated with dark-brown goethite and an amorphous orange-yellow material which appears to be original pocket clay.

The specimen was number 104 in the collection of Wilhelm Klein, production manager at Tsumeb between 1916 and 1939. His collection catalogue attributes the specimen to 4 Level.
