Description

Loosely intergrown crystals of lustrous blue-black azurite (to 45 mm), with localised surface etching (which intensifies the colour). The crystals exhibit the tabular habit typical of the Easter Pocket (Exhibit 2; see Gebhard 1995). A little oxidised sulphide material is present on the reverse, with very minor calcite and malachite.

Bill Pinch acquired this specimen from Georg Gebhard. Pinch’s label attributes it to the so-called Easter Pocket, discovered on 8 Level in the first oxidation zone and collected over the Easter weekend in April 1994.
