azurite

A sheaf of bent, blade-like crystals of electric-blue azurite, apparently formed beween two plates of matrix material consisting of dolomite and quartz (XRD confirmed). Parts of the azurite crystals have a bright, sub-adamantine lustre, but elsewhere the primary crystal surfaces have been overgrown with minute secondary azurite crystals resulting in a moss-like texture with an earthy lustre.

The location in the mine from which the specimen originates is not known.
