Description

Prismatic, terminated azurite crystals (to 30 mm), with minor cerussite in a vug in carbonate matrix in which azurite is again a significant component. The azurite crystals are pristine, with an adamantine lustre and no sign of alteration to malachite. A little cerussite as groups of colourless-white crystals (to 5 mm) is associated.

The specimen is from the collection purchased by Charles Palache during his visit to Tsumeb in December 1922, which dates it to the upper part of the first oxidation zone (i.e. 8 Level or above).
