Description

Slender translucent blades of azurite (to 20 mm), free-standing and randomly orientated, on a crust of earthy pale green arsenates (undetermined). A few azurite crystals at one margin of the specimen show partial alteration to malachite (Exhibit 2) but the majority of the crystals are pristine.


The specimen was number 48 in the collection of Wilhelm Klein, production manager at Tsumeb between 1916 and 1939. His collection catalogue attributes the specimen to 8 Level.
