Description

Prismatic crystals of azurite (to 25 mm), partly replaced by malachite, showing a classic radiating pattern of malachite fibres. Minor white cerussite is present as well as microcrystalline Cu-Pb arsenates (not analysed).

Formerly in the Reverend A.E. Gardner Collection which was purchased by the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources (now Geoscience Australia) in 1974. There is no record of earlier provenance or location in the mine, but the paragenesis is strongly indicative of the upper part of the first oxidation zone.
