Description
A pseudomorph of malachite after azurite. The display surface (Exhibit 1) is studded with gemmy cerussite crystals (to 1.5 mm), pale yellow to slightly pink in colour (Exhibit 2). The reverse of the specimen (Exhibit 3) is partly hollow, with a core of malachite (also pseudomorphous after azurite), surrounded by a zone from which malachite has apparently been dissolved away.
The specimen is from the collection of Wilhelm Klein, production manager at Tsumeb between 1916 and 1939, which dates the specimen to the first oxidation zone.
