Description

An intergrowth of sharp, tabular azurite crystals has been completely replaced by malachite and is nested in a cavernous matrix largely comprising a cryptocrystalline mixture of bayldonite and duftite (XRD confirmed; Paul Carr, University of Wollongong 2016). Sub-mm crystals of a spearmint green mineral are provisionally identified as arsentsumbite (?).

This was specimen 478 in the collection of Wilhelm Klein, production manager at Tsumeb between 1916 and 1939. His catalogue records that it is from 4 Level in the first oxidation zone.
