Description

Equant and short prismatic crystals of colourless cerussite (to 15 mm) on a shell-like matrix of calcite with pistachio-green duftite. The cerussite crystals have a slightly etched appearance and are partly and preferentially encrusted with pale lemon-yellow mimetite. WDS analysis of the duftite on a specimen from the same occurrence (see TSNB924) has confirmed near end-member composition. (Compare specimens TSNB923 and TSNB924.)
The specimen was acquired from Ian Bruce in 2024 but with no record of earlier provenance. It is believed to be from a fairly large discovery made in circa 1978 (Cairncross 2000).
