Description

Free-standing twinned cerussite crystals (to 20 mm) on a crust of twisted dolomite rhombs over a matrix consisting of intergrown dolomite, cerussite and sulphide minerals.  Both the cerussite and the dolomite are coloured orange-brown, apparently by included iron oxides.
The specimen is from the collection of Clement Victor Latz, which was donated to the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources (now Geoscience Australia) in 1976. There is no record of earlier provenance or location in the mine.
