Description

Glassy, colourless crystals of twinned and striated cerussite on partly oxidised sulphide ore. The cerussite crystals have a slight brown smokiness close to the junction with the matrix material, presumably due to the presence of minute sulphide inclusions.
The specimen is from the collection of Clement Victor Latz, which was donated to the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources (now Geoscience Australia) in 1976. There is no record of earlier provenance or of location in the mine.
