Description
A colourless, water-clear rhombohedral crystal of calcite, 20 mm on edge, on just a small fragment of matrix material. A bevel on one edge of the crystal adds crystallographic interest. There is a little conichalcite-duftite (?) on the matrix which is magnified and refracted by the calcite.
The specimen is from the Bill Pinch Collection (Exhibit 3) and is accompanied by an older label handwritten by John Innes (Exhibit 4), chief mineralogist for TCL in the early 1980s, indicating that he collected it on 28 July 1983 from 30 Level, West 70.
