Description

Flattened rhombohedral crystals of colourless-white calcite (to 12 mm) on a crust of reddish-brown dolomite coloured, presumably, by iron oxides. The calcite crystals are mainly translucent, but with localised areas of transparency (Exhibit 2), which may be indicative of partial recrystallisation (?).

Neither the provenance nor the location in the mine is recorded.
