Description
Colourless rhombohedral crystals of calcite (to 13 mm), richly included with microscopic blue-green dioptase, and with somewhat less abundant apple-green conichalcite-duftite (XRD verified). The conichalcite-duftite inclusions appear to form a discreet layer in the calcite crystals, while the dioptase is more widely dispersed. The outer portions of the calcite rhombs are water-clear and highly transparent, so that the included minerals form well-defined phantoms in contrasting shades of green.
Neither the provenance nor the location in the mine is recorded.
Associated Minerals
conichalcite-duftite; dioptase
