Description

An aggregate of loosely intergrown cuprite crystals (to 3 mm), predominantly dodecahedral in habit and peppered to varying degrees with sub-mm spherules of malachite. The habit of the aggregate suggests that it may be pseudomorphous after native copper (?).

The specimen was formerly in the collection of Clement Victor Latz, which was donated to the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources (now Geoscience Australia) in 1976. There is no record of earlier provenance or of location in the mine.
