Description

Lustrous and very slightly irridescent cuprite crystals (to 6 mm), intergrown on a gossanous matrix. The crystals are predominantly octahedral, but with cube and dodecahedron forms also present, and some weak and localised development of skeletal growth. A few incomplete tabular crystals of tan-coloured wulfenite are associated.

The specimen is from the collection of the Reverend A.E. Gardner which was purchased by the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources (now Geoscience Australia) in 1974. There is no record of earlier provenance or location in the mine.
