Description

Intergrown crystals (to 14 mm) of dark, wine-red cuprite, predominantly octahedral, but with cube and dodecahedron forms also developed. Colourless calcite crystals are present in the interstices, with sparse crystals of straw-yellow mimetite (to 5 mm).

The specimen belonged formerly to renowned Australian collector Albert Chapman. There is no record of earlier provenance or location in the mine.
