Description
An aggregate of free-standing, pseudo-hexagonal aragonite trillings (to 22 mm), intergrown at the bases of the crystals, but essentially matrix free. The crystals are prismatic in habit and highly translucent, grading from very pale peach-yellow at their bases to colourless terminations.
EDS analysis (Frank Keutsch, Harvard University, 2025) shows the aragonite contains circa 5 wt % Pb and less than 1 wt % Zn.
The specimen was number 625 in the collection of Wilhelm Klein, production manager at Tsumeb between 1916 and 1939. His handwritten catalogue attributes the specimen to 11 Level in the first oxidation zone.
