Description

Pseudo-hexagonal trillings (to 9 mm) of snow-white aragonite associated with minor cerussite (not visible in the photgraph) and aggregates of tiny colourless calcite rhombs (< 0.5 mm).

The MGMH label for this specimen records it as "Zincian? Aragonite" (Exhibit 2). EDS analysis (Frank Keutsch; Harvard University, 2025) shows that it contains circa 5 wt % Pb and essentially no Zn.

The specimen is from the collection purchased by Charles Palache during his visit to Tsumeb in December 1922, which dates it to the upper part of the first oxidation zone (i.e. 8 Level or above).
