Description

Prismatic trillings of aragonite (to 14 mm), with a very slight reverse taper (i.e. widening towards the termination), a habit typical of the Pb-bearing variety tarnowitzite. The aragonite is mostly colourless-white, but parts of the specimen appear to have grown in contact with malachite (?), inclusions of which lend a green colouration to some of the crystals.

Semi-quantitative EDS indicates that the aragonite contains approximately 3.7 wt % Pb (Frank Keutsch; Harvard University, 2025).

The specimen is from the Bill Pinch Collection and belonged formerly to Steven Phillips, Marshall Sussman and Chris Amo. The location in the mine is unrecorded.
