Description

A siliceous matrix, with a shallow vug hosting quartz crystals encrusted with green conichalcite. Equant, pale yellow willemite crystals (to 1 mm), some of them intergrown, rest on the conichalcite and are spiked by inconspicuous, colourless acicular smithsonite crystals (to 0.5 mm; Exhibit 2). This paragenesis has been described by Gebhard and Schluter (1995).

Mark Feinglos acquired the specimen from Georg Gebhard in October 1993. Gebhard’s label (Exhibit 3) attributes the specimen to 43 Level in the third oxidation zone and shows a collection date (?) of 1992.
