Description

A thin encrustation pseudomorph of light turquoise-blue willemite microcrystals completely enclosing a single crystal (29 mm) of cerussite as well as a large part of the ferruginous matrix material. On the reverse side of the specimen the willemite is partly encrusted with microcrystals of calcite and sparse pale yellow prismatic microcrystals of mimetite are also associated.

The willemite gives a bright yellow response in short wavelength ultraviolet radiation, and a bright orange fluorescence in long wavelength ultraviolet.

The specimen is in the collection of Sharon and Eugene Cisneros.
