Description

This specimen consists largely of willemite, although there is a very minor amount of altered carbonate matrix and, on the reverse side, a few small sprays of mimetite needles and sparse malachite spherules.  The willemite varies in habit from pseudo-hexagonal crystals to botryoidal aggregates (Exhibit 2) and in colour, from red-brown (v. troostite) to pale blue.
This was specimen number 253 in the collection to Clement Victor Latz, which was donated to the Australian Bureau of Resources (now Geoscience Australia) in 1976. There is no record of earlier provenance or location in the mine.
