Description
A gossanous matrix, somewhat cavernous and friable, locally encrusted with radiating aggregates of fine, colourless-white acicular mimetite crystals (to 2 mm). The mimetite crust is punctuated by aggregates (to 8 mm) of native copper which are partly altered to malachite and encrusted with tiny malachite spherules (Exhibit 2).
The specimen was number 845 in the collection of Dr Mary L. Johnson (Exhibit 3) and belonged previously to Fritz Gramatski. The location in the mine is not recorded.
