Description
A stellate group of lustrous, highly transparent, pale yellow crystals of mimetite (to 24 mm). This specimen is from the famous "Gem Pocket", discovered on 28 Level in 1971 and widely considered to be the source of the world's finest mimetite specimens. The habit of the crystals is distinctive, with elongated hexagonal prisms {100} terminated by a prominent pinacoid {001} and a subordinate pyramid {101}. A very minor amount of sulphide (?) matrix material is present at the base of the specimen.
