mimetite (on cerussite)

A mass of colourless-grey reticulated cerussite on a gossanous, goethite-rich matrix. Pale yellow to lemon-yellow needles of mimetite (to 11 mm) richly encrust the gossanous material and have also formed in the interstices of the cerussite reticulations.

The specimen is from the collection of Clement Victor Latz, which was donated to the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources (now Geoscience Australia) in 1976.
