Description

Tabular crystals of butterscotch-coloured wulfenite (to 30 mm) on velvet-textured botryoidal malachite. The cavernous texture of the malachite suggests that it may have formed after native copper (?). Unfortunately there is damage to many of the wulfenite crystals.
The specimen was number 343 in the collection of Clement Victor Latz, which was donated to the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources (now Geoscience Australia) in 1976. There is no record of earlier provenance or location in the mine.
