Description

Colourless orthorhombic prisms of transparent anglesite (to 20 mm) on a matrix of smaller anglesite crystals in (and on) partly oxidised sulphide, principally galena. The anglesite crystals are finally striated at 90 degrees to their elongation, which gives them a slightly etched appearance. The Geoscience Australia label states that covellite is an associated mineral but that is not obvious visually.

The specimen is from the Reverend A. E. Gardner Collection, which was purchased by the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources (now Geoscience Australia) in 1974. There is no record of earlier provenance or location in the mine.
