Description

Composite, pseudo-octahedral crystals of colourless to milky-white anglesite (to 65 mm), very lustrous and glassy (exhibits 1 and 2), but locally included by relict sulphides. On one side of the specimen (Exhibit 3) the density of inclusions is sufficient to render the crystals almost black.

The specimen was number 4821 in the collection of Austrian industrialist Hans von Karabacek, part of which was purchased by Harvard University in 1935, thereby dating the specimen unequivocally to the first oxidation zone.
