Description

A multi-lobed crust comprising framboidal aggregates of rhombohedral crystals of translucent sea-green smithsonite. The specimen is essentially matrix-free and there are no other mineral species present.

The specimen was number 4708 in the collection of Austrian industrialist Hans von Karabacek, part of whose collection was purchased by Harvard University in 1935, thereby dating this specimen unequivocally to the first oxidation zone.
