Description

A crescent-shaped plate of white calcite almost completely encrusted on both sides by lustrous, highly translucent, equant dioptase crystals (to 2 mm).

The specimen is from the collection of Lynn and Elaine Loomis which was acquired by Harvard in 2024. It is accompanied by a Mineral Kingdom of Woodmere label (Julius and Miriam Zweibel) which dates it to pre-1980. While the location in the mine is not recorded, the paragenesis and habit are definitive for the second oxidation zone.
