Entry Type

Specimen TSNB440

Radiating bundles of colourless-white, needle-like crystals of alamosite (XRD confirmed), sparsely spotted with sub-mm spherules of greenish-black melanotekite. The location in the mine from which the specimen was recovered is not recorded, but this is a distinctive second oxidation zone paragenesis (Medenbach and Schmetzer 1975; Southwood 2021a).

The specimen is from the Clement Latz Collection, which was donated to the Australian Bureau of Mineral Resources (now Geoscience Australia) in 1976. Latz purchased the specimen in Windhoek, Namibia in the belief that it was an unusual habit of cerussite.
