Description
Tabular crystals (to 9 mm) of lustrous, highly translucent yellow adamite (XRD confirmed), resting on elongated, composite sheaf-like crystals of colourless-white smithsonite which has crystallised on a rind of yellow tsumcorite over a chalcocite-rich sulphide matrix.
The location in the mine from which the specimen was recovered is not recorded, but the paragenesis indicates that it is probably from the second oxidation zone. The specimen was formerly in the collections of Keith Hammond (U.K.; Exhibit 2) and Richard Barstow (U.K.) and it is accompanied by a Barstow white label (Exhibit 3).
Associated Minerals
smithsonite; tsumcorite
