Description

Blocky, yellow-green crystals of adamite (to 25 mm) associated with sheaf-like sprays of white smithsonite (XRD confirmed).

Quantitative (WDS) analysis of a near-identical specimen from the same occurrence determined that the adamite is close to end-member composition with a Zn: Cu ratio of 1.98:0.01 (APFU) (see Southwood et al. 2020).

The specimen was acquired by MGMH from American collector Dave Wilbur in 1979. It is believed to be from the second oxidation zone, and probably from the occurrence which Key (1977) considered to have produced Tsumeb's finest adamite specimens.
