Description

A group of tetrahedral, grey-black tennantite crystals (to 28 mm), intergrown, slightly etched (striated) and with an unusual combination of a patchy red-brown (oxidation) patina - possibly goethite (?) - and a weak metallic sheen. Minor dolomite and quartz adhere to some of the tennantite crystals.

The specimen was purchased from Wayne Leicht in 2014. It was formerly in the collection of Fred Meissner (#1801) and Meissner's label (Exhibit 2) indicates that it was purchased from Roberts Minerals on January 1, 1984 for US$100. The location in the mine is not recorded.
