General Notes
Ktenasite is a member of the devilline group of minerals and is closely related to devilline and serpierite, both of which also occur at Tsumeb.
The occurrence of ktenasite at Tsumeb was reported by Joy Désor in April 2020, based on analysis by SEM-EDS and Raman spectroscopy (www.mindat.org/locentry-1365433.html; accessed April 2020).
Ktenasite was found in close association with niedermayrite in a paragenesis of secondary cadmium-bearing minerals discovered by Désor in a large specimen of germanite ore (with chalcocite, galena and sphalerite) containing vugs also hosting cerussite, galloplumbogummite and pyromorphite.
Associated Minerals
cerussite; chalcocite; chlorargyrite; edwardsite; galena; galloplumbogummite; germanite; gunningite; lauraniite; lazaridisite; niedermayrite; otavite; pyromorphite; schulenbergite; sphalerite
