Description
Fine grained germanium- and gallium-rich sulphide ore.
In plane polarised light (Exhibit 1): germanite (Ger – pink) with web-like exsolution along grain boundaries of very fine-grained chalcocite (Cc – bluish-grey), enargite (Eng – pinkish grey to light pinkish-brown), sphalerite (Sp – medium grey) with exsolution lamellae of gallite (Gal – light grey) and quartz (dark grey to black). The gallite exsolution lamellae are orientated in three directions parallel to the crystallographic axes of the sphalerite.
