Description

Quartz, enclosed by massive sulphide, coloured turquoise-blue by inclusions of stranskiite (XRD verified; Andy Roberts, Geological Survey of Canada). Minute crystals of o’danielite (typically 0.1 mm), orange (or occasionally yellow-green) in colour and with a distinctive trapezoidal cross-section, occur sparsely in the quartz (exhibits 2 and 3).

Mark Feinglos acquired this specimen from Georg Gebhard in October 2001. Gebhard’s label attributes the specimen to 46 Level; however, identical material in the MGMH Collection (MGMH 131513) carries a Mineral Kingdom label (from 1989) with a 44 Level attribution.
