Description

Gemmy, prismatic crystals of emerald-green zincolivenite (to 8 mm) with typical chisel-shaped terminations, associated with olive-green to brownish botryoidal aggregates of a tsumcorite group mineral, provisionally identified as ferrilotharmeyerite (?) and a little colourless quartz.

Quantitative analysis of the zincolivenite by EMPA-WDS (Exhibit 2) shows it to be close to ideal (mid-range) composition with a Cu:Zn ratio of 1.02:0.98, or 51.2 mol % Cu (Southwood et al. 2020).

The specimen was formerly in the collection of Brian Shelton and was acquired from Australian dealer Cyril Kovac in 2005. The location in the mine is not recorded.
