Description
Platy electric-blue crystals comprising lamellar intergrowths of andyrobertsite and calcioandyrobertsite, associated with green zincolivenite.
This is the specimen from which both andyrobertsite and calcioandyrobertsite were first described (Cooper et al. 1999). It originally belonged to Tsumeb mining engineer Richard Baughart and is believed to have been collected circa 1950. It changed hands several times before being purchased by Bill Pinch at the Denver mineral show in 1996, labelled as "zinc-deficient keyite". Analysis showed the platy blue material to comprise intergrowths of two minerals new to science. Exhibit 3 shows Pinch's specimen label.
