General Notes
Whitlockite was identified by Schlüter et al. (2011) as a component of the type paragenesis for hermannroseite. It occurs with manganese oxides, conichalcite and pseudomalachite lining a vug in hydroxylapatite. These minerals form a botryoidal crust with conichalcite enclosing alternating microcrystalline sequences of conichalcite, hermannroseite, hydroxylapatite, pseudomalachite and whitlockite. The hermannroseite type specimen (on which the whitlockite was identified) was recovered from the East 49 Stope on 28 Level, probably in the early 1960s, by TCL mineralogist Bruno Geier.
