General Notes

Cotunnite was first reported from Tsumeb by Joy Désor in 2019 (www.mindat.org; accessed December 2022). It occurs as minute off-white spherules (< 0.5 mm) associated with dioptase and rhombohedral crystals of a carbonate mineral that EDS analysis suggests may be Zn-rich dolomite (?) or possibly minrecordite (?) (Joy Désor, pers. comm. to M. Southwood, 2019). A little conichalcite (or possibly duftite) is also associated.

Associated Minerals

conichalcite (?); dioptase; dolomite; minrecordite (?); quartz
