Description

Massive anglesite (XRD verified), grey in colour and distinctly banded. The cause of the banding has not been determined but is possibly due to the variable presence of relict sulphide inclusions (undetermined).
The specimen was acquired by Dr Ludger Krahn from Dr F. Krantz in December 1978. It is accompanied by an anonymous label (Exhibit 2) dated 1914 and attributing the specimen to the East Ore Body, 3 Level at a depth of 56 metres.
