Description
A brecciated matrix of altered dolostone (?), cemented by chalky-white hydrozincite and, possibly, a little malachite (?). Two major vugs in the hydrozincite host feathery aggregates of acicular crystals of pale-blue aurichalcite (to 5 mm) and stacked aggregates of colourless, glassy, hemimorphite blades (Exhibit 2).
The specimen was purchased from Dr F. Krantz (of Bonn; Exhibit 3) in 1909 which dates it unequivocally to the upper part of the first oxidation zone (i.e. above 6 Level).
