Description
Framboidal aggregates (to 6 mm) of charcoal-grey, oxidised sphalerite. Fresh surfaces (where aggregates have been broken) show the intense orange-yellow fluorescence under short wave ultraviolet radiation for which Tsumeb sphalerite is renowned (Spencer 1927).
This was specimen number 996 in the collection of Wilhelm Klein, production manager at Tsumeb between 1916 and 1939. His handwritten catalogue (unpublished; MGMH collection) attributes the specimen to 8 Level West.
