Pale yellow crystals of talmessite (to 10 mm) on colourless-white calcite (exhibits 1 and 2). The talmessite occurs as near-parallel intergrowths of tabular crystals (Exhibit 2) and has been verified by single crystal XRD and by chemical analysis (EMPA).
The specimen is from the collection of Bill Pinch, who purchased it from dealer Dave Bunk (Exhibit 3); it belonged formerly to Don Belsher. The location in the mine is not recorded.
Pinch's label (Exhibit 4) indicates that the specimen was used for determination of the unit cell parameters for talmessite. The specimen is included in the RRUFF database (RRUFF ID R080007); analytical data is available at https://rruff.info/talmessite/display=default/R080007 (accessed November 2024).
