Entry Type

Specimen TSNB487

Large platy crystals of colourless, transparent gypsum, richly included and partly encrusted (Exhibit 2) by pale spearmint-green thometzekite and very sparse yellow-green gartrellite (the latter not discernible in these images). Both arsenate minerals are XRD-verified although their compositions have not been determined. The thometzekite appears to be concentrated in planar zones, possibly controlled by the cleavage in the gypsum (Exhibit 2).

The specimen was formerly in the Karlheinz Grosch Collection and, while the location in the mine is not recorded, it is probably from the second oxidation zone.

gartrellite; gypsum
