Description
Green, translucent gel-like material with a conchoidal fracture, incompletely described and assigned the working name of GS1 by Gebhard (1999), associated with glassy blue scorodite (Exhibit 2). The scorodite is XRD confirmed (Exhibit 3). The composition of the cream-coloured reaction rim (?) between the scorodite and GS1 is undetermined.
The specimen was acquired from South African collector Walter Schaefer. The location in the mine for this specimen is not recorded but it is almost certainly from the third oxidation zone (Gebhard 1999).
