Wittichenite

Wittichenite was reported from Tsumeb by Ramdohr and Strunz (1978) but does not appear to have been confirmed subsequently. Notably, it is omitted from mineral lists published by Keller (1984), Lombaard et al. (1986) and Gebhard (1991, 1999).

Hughes (1987) included wittichenite in a small list of minerals that had been identified optically by earlier workers but without analytical confirmation. He suggested that betekhtinite had been mistaken for wittichenite.

Von Bezing et al. (2007; citing Ramdohr and Strunz 1978) included wittichenite in their listing of Tsumeb minerals, but wittichenite is omitted from their subsequent listing (Von Bezing et al. 2014).
