General Notes
Patrónite was first recorded at Tsumeb by Geier (1973/1974) as minute inclusions in other sulphide minerals but identified only by its optical properties (Bartelke 1976).
Lombaard et al. (1986) listed patrónite as an "extremely rare" mineral but considered its occurrence questionable.
Hughes (1987) included patrónite in a short list of rare ore minerals that were identified optically by earlier workers (principally Geier in unpublished TCL reports) but never confirmed by analysis. Hughes considered the validity of patrónite at Tsumeb as "doubtful or insufficiently substantiated."
Questionable status is retained for patrónite pending appropriate verification.
